Some of the best whitewater rafting and kayaking in the Eastern United States can be enjoyed on the Chattooga and Tallulah rivers, just minutes from the community.
The Appalachian Trail and Tallulah Gorge are nearby, and camping in the area offers some of the most brilliant starlit skies you will ever see. Zip lining and rock climbing round out the adventure.
Cold mountain streams and stocked waters make Rabun County a fly-fishing destination, and hunting is close at hand in the surrounding National Forest.
Saddle up and explore mountain trails on horseback — one of the area’s most beloved traditions.
Several beautiful golf courses grace the area — two of the very best only minutes from Heaven’s Landing — and endless forest roads and single track await mountain bikers.
Downtown Clayton
A short four-mile drive from Heaven’s Landing, downtown Clayton offers a multitude of area amenities in a hometown atmosphere that includes some of the top restaurants in the United States. Rabun County was recently named the “Farm to Table Capital of Georgia”.
Great food is plentiful and shopping is abundant — galleries, boutiques, markets and coffee shops line the streets — yet big city traffic is never an issue. Healthcare and schools are minutes away.
Four Seasons
Winter recreational options include skiing, snowboarding, sledding and tubing — while winters at home remain mild, with just two to five inches of snowfall on average annually.
Long noted as a place “Where Spring Spends the Summer”, Rabun County enjoys mild spring-like temperatures right through October, with breathtaking fall color in between.
